Dental Procedures:
Veneers
A great solution for those that want a long lasting, natural look that creates a new color and/or shape of the original tooth. There’s no reason to put up with gaps in your teeth or with teeth that are stained, badly shaped or crooked. Today a veneer placed on top of your teeth can correct nature’s imperfections or the result of an injury and help you have a beautiful smile. Veneers are thin, custom-made shells of tooth colored porcelain designed to cover the front side of the tooth. A small amount of the tooth is removed to make room for the veneer. The thin porcelain transmits light in such a manner as to create a very natural, esthetic result.
Crowns
If you want a smile that is your crowning glory, you may need a crown to cover a tooth and restore it to its normal shape and size. A crown can make your tooth stronger and improve its appearance. It can both cover and support a tooth with a large filling when there isn’t enough tooth left. It can be used to attach a bridge, protect a weak tooth from breaking or restore one that’s already broken. A crown is a good way to cover teeth that are discolored or badly shaped and can also be used to cover a dental implant.
Bridges
If you’re missing one or more teeth, you may notice a difference in chewing, speaking and facial support for your lips or cheeks. There are options to help restore your smile.
Bridges help maintain the shape of your face, as well as alleviating stress in your bite by replacing missing teeth. Unlike a removable bridge, which you take out to clean, a dentist can only remove a fixed bridge. It stays put and feels like your own natural teeth. An implant bridge is the same as a regular bridge except it uses implants to anchor it rather than natural teeth.
Root Canal (endodontics) Treatment
Today, with a special dental procedure called root canal therapy, a tooth that had once been considered hopeless and had to be extracted can now be saved. Inside each tooth is the pulp, which provides nutrients and a blood supply to the tooth. When the pulp is diseased or injured, the pulp tissue dies. If left alone the tooth can become abscessed and can be very painful. Root canal therapy removes the pulp tissue and the nerve supply to the tooth and then cleans and seals the root canal. Then a crown is placed over the tooth to help make it stronger. Most of the time, a root canal is a relatively simple procedure with little or no discomfort involving one to three visits. Best of all, it can save your tooth and your smile.
Snore Prevention
The SomnoMed MAS™ is an oral appliance, which fits over the upper and lower teeth, much like a sports mouth guard. However unlike a sports mouth guard it is a precision-made, clinically tested medical device.
It is highly effective, in most cases, at stopping snoring and treating obstructive sleep apnea in the mild to moderate range.
Three Good Reasons to Choose the SomnoMed MAS™
- 1.It’s comfortable. It is the most comfortable and discreet mandibular advancement splint available.
- 2.It’s effective. It’s effectiveness to treat snoring and mild to moderate OSA has been clinically validated (success in all cases cannot be guaranteed).
- 3.It’s a Great Value. Given the quality, comfort, likelihood of success, manufacturer’s warranty and long life of the appliance, it provides true value for money.
Whitening
Your smile is one of the first things that someone will notice about you. A whiter, brighter smile can make you feel better about yourself and make a lasting first impression. The ageing process and what you eat or drink can stain and darken your teeth. Bleaching or whitening can reverse that process in most cases. The procedure is simple and painless. It can be accomplished in-office with an immediate result or as a take-home method with results in seven to ten days. Either way, bleaching can lighten your teeth up to eight shades. Why not make that first great impression with a beautiful smile that people will notice immediately!
“Gummy Smile”
Sometimes too much gum shows in a person’s smile. If someone has a very gummy smile and won’t fully open their mouth to smile because of it, we can usually help that person. The right proportion of tooth length and gum is essential for framing the smile correctly. Gum contouring can give dramatic results by either evening out the gum line or making a short tooth look longer.
Dental Implants
If you are missing some or all of your teeth, rediscover the joy of being able to eat, speak and enjoy life with confidence. Implants can not only replace your missing teeth, they can help restore and preserve the natural contours of your face. Find out if dental implants are the right choice for you.
Anti-Aging
Today’s baby boomers are deluged with information about age-defying treatments. Dentistry has a lot to offer patients through cosmetic procedures and has helped many people reverse the signs of ageing. Receding gums, worn, chipped or discolored teeth and a “collapsed bite” are just some of the things that will make you look older. Additionally, there are associations between oral health and overall health, including the loss of self-esteem with tooth loss. Looking good continues to be important as one ages. There is no longer any reason why someone shouldn’t be able to look good as they get older. There are many ways to prevent some of these ageing problems before they even begin. Find out how!
Family Dentistry
Family Dentistry, like general dentistry, provides services related to the general maintenance of oral hygiene and tooth health. The terms ‘family dentistry’ and ‘general dentistry’ are often used interchangeably, though there is a slight difference between the two. Some dentists restrict their practice to certain age groups. For example, pedodontists restrict their practice to providing dental care and treatment to young children. Family Dentists typically care for a wide variety of patients, from young children to older adults. Family dentists are responsible for ensuring that plaque buildup around the teeth is kept to a minimum, that tooth decay is eliminated and cavities are filled, and that gums remain healthy.
